Why Is Life Worth Living? 7 Reasons Life Is Worth It

Is Life Worth Living?

There are many things in this one life to live that can cause us to question whether or not life is worth living. From the daily stresses of paying bills and sustaining ourselves to working strenuous jobs and feeling worthless, there are guaranteed to be many challenges in this one life to live. However, every single life has inherent value, and life is worth living if you take a look at the positive things life has to offer

“Beginnings are usually scary, and endings are usually sad, but it’s everything in between that makes it all worth living.” – Bob Marley

1. Family

No one came into this world by themselves, and everyone has someone that they can call a member of their family. Whether it is parents or siblings, family is one of the most precious things that we can have in this life. The reason that is the case is because family can provide us with something that no one else will. That would be unconditional love.

There is always going to be someone you care about, and when you find it challenging to find the meaning of your life, all you need to do is rely on those who matter most to you. Those people should be your family, in other words, the one who has been with you from the beginning. No matter what happens in this life, there is nothing that can separate you from your blood family. This alone makes life worth living.

You can check out our post on the subject if for whatever reason you hate your family. It may be helpful.

2. Things Only Get Better

Even if you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom and that there’s no way out, things can only get better. This is because everything turns out the way it’s meant to be. That is how life works. Even if you think the worst has happened to you, it can only make you appreciative of the good that’s to come.

Many struggles can make people question this belief. It can be the death of a family member. It could even be a failed relationship. There’s no doubt that life brings about pain and things that can cause us to ask the question, is life worth living?” And why? However, this pain only lasts for a short period.

There’s no doubt that life brings about pain

The pain that comes with a loss will eventually get better. Eventually, the debt will come down to a manageable level. So is life worth living? Take things one day at a time. Life’s worth living to see that in the end, everything works itself out.

3. Life Can Bring About New Experiences

Sometimes, people try to envision a perfect life for themselves, and this can cause bad decisions to be made and may even make you more miserable in the process. The fact of the matter is life seldom works out the way that we want it. Some of us have lofty dreams of making it big or having a level of financial security to the point where we won’t have to worry about the expenses needed to sustain ourselves. However, life happens. Sometimes, it’s that simple.

However, in the midst of all of that, life can bring about new experiences you didn’t know you wanted. There’s a saying that states that some people find their destiny on the road they took to avoid it. The point is that regardless of how difficult life gets, and regardless of what plans we may make for ourselves, we are always exposed to different experiences as a result of not following a preconceived path.

Every day is a new day. When you can let go and let life guide you, things will get easier and far more enjoyable. It certainly isn’t wrong to envision what you want for yourself in this life. However, it’s equally important to appreciate this one life we have to live and see what it has in store for us. We should always do what life tells us to do and follow your intuition. You may end up in a better place than what you previously conceived for yourself.

4. You Can Love and Be Loved

The loss of a loved one is a devastating experience, especially if it comes from a close family or friend. However, it is not the end of the world. The fact of the matter is that there are billions of people on this planet, and if you act in love, you will find people that can eventually become close enough to be considered friends or family. The truth is you never truly are alone, even if you think you are.

One common handicap for people is the fear of rejection. Some people may hold deep feelings for someone else. If you lose a friend, you are bound to find another one. Just as well, for every breakup that you may experience, there is always someone else that can become a life partner. It is only a matter of allowing that for yourself.

It is only a matter of allowing that for yourself

Life is worth living because you will get to decide how much love you can give. Since you have that choice, there is no need to fear the thought that someone may not share those same feelings. In most cases, you will receive the amount of love that you give to others. If you don’t, life will go on. Once you find that special friend that you latch onto or get into a relationship with someone, all of that waiting will have been all the more worth it.

5. Obstacles Bring About Opportunity

Sometimes, we feel confined in our circumstances that we may not see the bigger picture behind everything. All we can see is our immediate problems, and because of that mindset, we may often feel like there is no end in sight. However, that’s missing the point.

The fact of the matter is that problems can eventually have a positive impact in the long-term, even if it doesn’t seem that way w. Why is that the case? Well, all you have to do is adhere to the famous saying that states that what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger. There is arguably nothing in life truer because, for each obstacle you overcome, you will gain a new level of mental strength, knowing that you overcame it.

Whether this is an academic degree, paying off massive debt, or finishing a large project at work, there is a great deal to learn with each new experience. Each obstacle builds character, and you will become a better, stronger person because you stuck it out until the end.

Many envision a life where they can kick back and take it easy. On the surface, that looks like an ideal life to live, but it can also be a curse. You need to be aware of what makes life precious to enjoy life. Hard times that teach you that the challenges will be worthwhile in the long term. Tough times do not last. Tough people do, and you have an opportunity to write yourself such a story.

6. The World Is Beautiful

The next time you find yourself questioning whether or not life will be worth living, remember that this vast world we call home is a beautiful sphere that we inhabit. Some would venture to say that the aesthetics alone would suffice to live life to the fullest. You can allow yourself to explore the world’s beauty by traveling to areas away from your home.

Once you know where to focus your sight, you will see that beauty is everywhere. From the sun rising early in the morning to the sun slowly setting at night, there’s so much beauty to experience. If things seem ugly and grim, it is more often than not that you chose to see it that way. Do not focus on the wrong things, and instead, look at the positive and beautiful things surrounding you.

7. You Can Be Happy

This is my happy place sign

Finally, one of the most important things you need to understand about life is that you can still be happy, no matter how bad things appear to get. The idea of happiness comes from within, and it can be seen as a true blessing. We have little control over external things, but we try to control what we can’t, to create a perfect life worth living.

In fact, a phenomenon known as the “hedonic treadmill,” states that It is only a matter of allowing that for yourself. This means that what made you either happy or sad before no longer does. No matter what happens, nothing can bring you permanent happiness. Never believe that you need someone or something to fill that void. You can do that for yourself.

Happy or sad before no longer does. No matter what happens, nothing can bring you permanent happiness

Conclusion

In conclusion, life is worth living for many reasons, especially since your life is inherently valuable. Unfortunately, today’s world is filled with depression and other factors that make life not worth living in some peoples minds but that’s not the case. If you’re still asking if life is worth living, it may be a good idea to talk to someone about it. Positivity is the key to everything, and if you look at the bigger picture, you are bound to see that you too can live a life worth living after all.

  1. I am sorry, but all the above mentioned examples only make sense if someone recognizes them as worth and in my case they can pretty much be turned down with one single comment: “So what?”
Unconditoinal love? So what, life end eventually, what does the love give me?
New Experiences? So what, life end eventually, what are new experiences worth then?
Beauty? Quite shallow argument and still, so what? Once you die, it does not really matter.
Happyness? SO WHAT! Everything ends eventually, so why even living?

The arguments above are from a perspective of a person that is scare of the non existance and tries to clinge on self established values that don’t mean anything when observed objectively.
Life is NOT worth living, the longer I live, the more I am sure abbout it.
Will I end it? Probably not, but purely because an hypocrit and as animal, my sense of self-preservasion prevails. If I was to act rationally, you live, to die. So why not just dying and get it over with?

  2. I am on my own most the time with my cat Luna
I know I can’t do anything but I can’t help but think life is not worth living even though I,can’t do anything it feels like I am living for the sake of living nothing else I wish I could find a reason to get rid of these thoughts
